ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of Danzhi Jiangtang capsule on quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 60 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into control group and observation group,30 cases in each group. The two groups were given comprehensive treatment measures. The observation group was treated with Danzhi Jiangtang capsule for 3 months.Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) were detected before treatment and 3 months after treatment, respectively, and tranditional chinese medcine (TCM) syndrome scores were filled in.The Diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale (DSQL) was evaluated. Results After treatment,FPG and HbA1c in the two groups decreased significantly, and the treatment group was better than the control group (P < 0.05).The curative effect of TCM syndromes in observation group was 93.3%,better than that of the control group (63.6%,P < 0.05).The observation group was better than the control group in terms of physiological function, treatment effect on patients and total score (P < 0.05).Conclusions Danzhi Jiangtang capsule can significantly improve the quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

ABSTRACT

This study was aimed to observe the curative effect and safety of Danzhi Jiangtang Capsule ( DJC ) combined with atorvastatin on carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) in diabetes patients without hyper-tension . A total of 196 diabetes patients without hypertension with incrassate carotid artery IMT were randomly divided into the control group ( 98 cases ) and the treatment group ( 98 cases ) . The conventional diabetes thera-py was given to both groups . The atorvastatin of 20 mg/night was given to the control group . And the atorvas-tatin 20 mg/night added with DJC 9 . 0 g/night were given to the treatment group . The treatment course was 12 months . Carotid artery IMT , carotid atherosclerotic plaque area , FPG , FIns , HOMA-IR , HbA1c , blood lipids , hepatorenal function and etc . were examined before and after the treatment respectively . The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between carotid artery IMT and FIns , HOMA-IR , HbAlc , LDL-C . After 12-month treatment , the total effectiveness is 85 . 87% in the treatment group . And there was significant difference compared with the control group ( P < 0 . 05 ) . The levels of FPG , FIns , HOMA-IR , HbAlc of the treatment group had no difference compared with the control group . Compared with the control group, TC and LDL-C of the treatment group was obviously decreased (P < 0.05). And HDL-C was significantly increased ( P < 0 . 05 ) . The carotid artery IMT of the treatment group decreased from ( 0 . 11 ±0 . 01 ) cm to ( 0 . 08 ± 0 . 01 ) cm . And compared with the control group , there was statistical significance ( P <0 . 05 ) . The carotid atherosclerotic plaque area of 58 cases in the treatment group decreased from ( 0 . 37 ±0.56) cm2 to (0.21 ± 0.25) cm2. However, there was no statistical significance compared to the control group. There were 5 adverse events in the control group and 9 adverse events in the treatment group . And there was no difference between two groups. It was concluded that DJC combined with atorvastatin can regulate lipid metabolism and reduce carotid artery IMT .

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the relationship between glycemic control and lipid profile in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods The patients with type 2 diabetes taking oral antidiabetic agents only were investigated for their levels of blood glucose and lipid profile. With a standard for valid blood glucose control( HbA1c <7% ),the patients were divided into two groups, reached the goal group and not reached the goal group, and the lipid profile was compared between the two groups. Results Completed study had been obtained 173 patients, average HbAlc,7.9%,total success rate of glycemic control, with 43.4% being the figure reported. We can see a lower triglyceride( TG),total cholesterol (TC) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) level and a higher high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level in the group reaching the stantard ( t =- 2.437,- 2.067,2.005,- 2.984,P =0.016,0.040,0.047,0.003).Conclusion The blood lipid profile should be considered while the level of glucose of patients with type 2 diabetes taking oral antidiabetic agents alone are controlled.
